How do I add a PDF View field to a form?
Last updated: September 25, 2026
The PDF View field renders the form's mapped PDF as a scrollable document inside the page — the employee reads the original document without leaving the form, and no code is needed.
What the field shows
By default, a PDF View field displays the form's mapped PDF — the document you uploaded when you built the form, the same source as the {{ input.urls.pdf_url }} variable. That makes it the fastest way to satisfy a customer requirement like "the employee has to see the actual document, not a summary." For multi-page documents such as handbooks or safety acknowledgments, drag the field to the top of the page so the employee scrolls the document first and answers below it.
The field can also point at a different document: its options accept an asset URL to preview instead of the mapped PDF. Leave that unset to show the form's own PDF.
Steps
Open the form in the editor.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click
Add Field, then choosePDF View— it sits near the bottom of the field list.In the
Pagespanel on the left, drag thePDF Viewfield to where you want it — usually the very top of the page.Click
Preview. The mapped PDF renders as a scrollable view inside the page.
Require employees to read the whole document
Mark the PDF View field required and it becomes a read acknowledgment: the employee sees Scroll to the end of the document to continue. and can't submit the page until they've scrolled through the entire document. Onboarded records when they finished reading as part of the submission.
If the field shows No PDF available, the form has no mapped PDF and no override URL set. Attach the PDF on the form's PDF mapping view — or set the field's asset URL option — and preview again.
Verify
Open the form's preview. You should see the document rendered inside the page, scrollable from first page to last. If you marked the field required, confirm the scroll prompt appears and clears once you reach the end of the document.
