How do I use Policy Distribution to manage policies across connected accounts?
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Policy Distribution lets your platform account push policies to — or remove them from — connected accounts without touching each account individually.
Before you start
Your account must be a platform account with at least one connected account. If you don't see
Connectin your sidebar, this feature isn't available on your account type. You need at least one policy on your platform account. See 📄 How do I build a policy? if you don't have one yet.
Read 📄 Understanding policies if you're not yet familiar with how policies control which forms are assigned to employees.
Create the strategy
Go to
Connect → Policy Distributionin the left sidebar.Click
New Strategy.Enter a
Name. Be specific — "Remove I-9 E-Verify from Acme" is more useful than "Policy update."Add a
Descriptionif you want internal context on what this strategy does and why.Set the Audience:
All— every connected account on your platform is affected by this strategy.Specified— only the connected accounts you add manually. Use this when the strategy should target specific accounts, not your whole platform.
Under Configurations, choose what this strategy does:
Deploy To Connected Accounts— push this policy to connected accounts so their future placements can match it.Remove From Connected Accounts— remove this policy from connected accounts so their future placements no longer match it.Enable Auto Update— when you update the policy on your platform account, automatically push the change to connected accounts.Disable Auto Update— stop pushing future updates to connected accounts after this strategy runs.Enable Auto Delete— if you delete the policy from your platform account, also remove it from all connected accounts covered by this strategy.
Click Create. The strategy is saved and you land on its detail page.
Audience type and configuration checkboxes are locked once the strategy is created and cannot be edited. If you chose the wrong settings, create a new strategy with the correct configuration.
Add policies to the strategy
On the strategy detail page, scroll to the Policies section.
Use the
Select a policy to add...dropdown to find and add each policy this strategy should act on. Add as many as needed.
Set the audience (Specified only)
If you set Audience to Specified, you need to add the connected accounts this strategy targets before it has any effect.
On the strategy detail page, go to the Audience section.
Search for and add each connected account. The strategy only runs against accounts listed here — connected accounts not in the list are unaffected.
Verify
Check the Activity tab on the strategy detail page after the strategy evaluates. Each connected account shows whether the distribution ran successfully.
To confirm a policy was removed from a connected account, impersonate that account and go to Forms → Policies. The policy should no longer appear in their list.
To confirm a policy was deployed to a connected account, impersonate that account and create a test placement that matches the policy's rules. The forms attached to that policy should appear on the placement automatically.
